Stuttering....overcome it. My Story..
During a discussion with some people, the subject of purpose in life came up. While I somewhat know it, I have not acted upon whatever I want to do. And I am not talking about career.
I used to stammer as a child, mainly in front of an audience. but today it has reduced drastically...I am 26 years now.
Schooldays sometimes was a nightware. I remember the introduction class during the start of every year. I used to tremble with fear every class. And then there was the elocution classes..I always delayed my speech time or sometimes newer showed up..stomach upset/fever...name it.
Attending gatherings, parties was a task. Even during familty re-unions, I could not speak properly.
But during my college days, I mustered up the courage to even think about giving speeches in front of people. My first speech was a 2 page report during Semester I English class. I practised in front of the mirror for 2 weeks. On the D-day, I did stutter a bit but I finally overcame my fear. From then on, I never looked back. I gave technical presentations in my college and outside ( won awards !! ), converted hard copy assignments to presentations in class, became the class head, organized fests and so on.....
Currently I am in International sales & marketing field, where I continuosly deal with customers on a daily basis. It was due to sheer determination & will power, support of my friends, teachers and of course family and Almighty , that I am where I am today.
I write this blog with the view that everything is possible....public fear is one of the biggest fears most probably...but with will power and therapy ( if one goes to it ), anything is possible.
NEVER EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE YOU STAMMER !!
Quote from Swami Vivekananda - I saw it in the blog section of ISA (Indian Stammer Association):
"Fear is death, fear is sin, fear is hell, fear is unrighteousness. All the negative thoughts and ideas that are in this world have proceeded from this evil spirit of fear. The moment you fear, you are nobody. It is fear that is the greatest cause of misery in the world. It is fear that is the greatest of all superstitions. It is fear that is the cause of our woes, and it is fearlessness that brings heaven in a moment. And at the root of all fear is lack of clarity of thought which in most cases comes from simply not knowing!"
